Understand the cultivation of coffee to grow and live better.
Coffee is a product of the earth and the farmers who cultivate are the beginning of the journey that leads from the bean to the cup.
For this reason, we at Lavazza attribute fundamental importance to the producing communities by dedicating a series of projects, because we are convinced that the culture of coffee represents a lever for development and a means to build a new and more balanced relationship with the environment.
The Lavazza Foundation is supporting a project to teach farmers good agricultural practices to optimize the cultivation of the precious fruit of the coffee plant, also in regard to climate change and supporting them with coordination and training activities.
In Uganda, during the last ten years, the coffee trade has come to represent 20% of the national income, but despite the population's dependence on coffee, its agriculture continues to be underdeveloped due to unreliable and inefficient technologies, leading to the production of low-quality coffee.
For this reason, to help the community, we want to improve the quality of life for farming families, strengthen the position of women along the production chain, and transmit to six thousand farmers the knowledge, skills, and motivation necessary to adopt a series of practices. Sustainable, and improves the harvest.
